Na Honu O Ke Kai

Na Honu O Ke Kai
Turtles of the Sea

Enjoy staying in this magical place. Kapoho is one of the most sought after vacation locations in East Hawaii. Swim and feed the fish in your own private thermally heated tidal pool or walk across the street to the wondrous snorkeling of Champagne Pond.

The lanai is the perfect place to relax and feel the cool ocean trade winds. This lanai also boasts a comfortable porch swing that easily accommodates two or three people. What a great place to eat a meal and watch the tropical birds go from plant to plant. This is also a good place to plan your day. Kehena the black sand beach is not far away, and there's always lunch in Pahoa town.

There is a fully furnished kitchen so there's everything you need to make your favorite dishes. Be sure to stop at one of the farmer's markets and get some local tropical fruits and vegetables. Eat at the bar, out on the lanai or make a picnic and go for an adventure. From here you are less than an hour away from Volcanoes National Park or a day of sightseeing in Hilo .
This hale or home has satellite T.V. for your entertainment and also has a DVD and CD player.  But something tells me that you won't be spending much time in front of the TV. You are in the tropics and the mana or life force is strong here. You can feel it in the sun and in the breeze. If you go out for a walk you will smell the sweet scents of Kapoho and you may just catch some Hawaiian music filtering through the trees.
Another view of the main living area. If you sit and watch T.V. here or read a book you might just fall asleep. This is a good place to remember the day's adventures or to plan tomorrow's. Let's see, snorkel, eat and sleep. That sounds about right.
Na Honu O Ke Kai has two generous bathrooms to choose from. If you are here with family or friends it makes your stay more pleasant to have your own private bathroom.
Comfortable full and queen size beds are awaiting you after a hard day of relaxing or playing.  Sleep with the window open and wake up hearing the tropical birds make their magical sounds.
Both bedrooms are equally comfortable and inviting but try not to lounge in bed too long as there is so much to do and see here in East Hawaii. This might be the perfect day to fish, scuba dive or kayak. On second thought you might just spend the day by the hot pond.
Green sea turtles are an endangered species so keep your distance from them. They are a delight to watch and you have a very good chance to see and swim with them in either Champagne Pond or at the Wai'opae (Kapoho) tide pools.
One of the great delights of tropical East Hawaii is the abundance of colorful flowers that bloom freely. You are bound to see beautiful flowers and plants everywhere you go but you might want to make a special trip to one of the beautiful botanical gardens. You will be amazed even if you're not a plant freak .
Here is Champagne Pond. The reefs keep the water calm and the incredibly clear water is heated by the volcano to around 90 degrees. There is always an abundance of colorful fish and of course the green sea turtles will keep you company. Don't forget your mask and fins.

Who can resist this tropical delight? Nestled in palm trees and beautiful flowering plants, this pool goes up and down with the tide. You may never want to get out of this 92 degree water so plan on spending a lot of time just floating or soaking with the incredible tropical fish.
